Welcome to the
The YMCA of El Paso strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, family time, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.
With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.
Dust off your running shoes (or walking shoes), grab your family and friends and join 1,400 other Thanksgiving morning early risers at the 40th Annual YMCA Turkey Trot along the Sun Bowl Parade Route. Starting from humble beginnings in 1977, the Turkey Trot has grown into the undisputed "Way to Begin Thanksgiving Day" for hundreds of local families as well as those who travel from across nation to share in our great event.
The Trot tradition has now extended through generations of participants who celebrate the holiday with grandparents, relatives, friends and their youngest who we look to see with their own families in the years ahead. Every year we hear of families who have declared the Turkey Trot as their new Thanksgiving tradition.
This year there are a number of ways you can participate: you can walk or run, enter by yourself or enter with a team of three other runners or gather a group from church, work or the neighborhood. You can even volunteer to help out.
In 2016 we are proud to announce the Del Norte Chiropractic Team Challenge. The team challenge is a competitive component of the Turkey Trot where teams of four runners compete in one of six divisions. The combined times of the four individual runners constitutes the team time. This year’s categories include Male Open, Female Open, Adult Coed, Corporate Open, High School and Military. All runners entered in the team challenge are also eligible for individual awards.
The YMCA would also like to acknowledge the over 70 volunteers that help make this event possible. We have volunteer groups from the YMCA, UTEP, Chapin High School and the El Paso Rhinos hockey team who get up before the sun comes up to ensure the Turkey Trot goes off without a hitch.
Who will be the youngest participant? Who will be the oldest? Who will travel the farthest to participate in the 40th Annual Turkey Trot? Mark your calendar for November 24, 2016 as we gather again in Central El Paso for the 40th Annual Turkey Trot.
A strong partnership exists between YMCA of El Paso staff and dedicated volunteers. The Annual Turkey Trot would not be successful without the help of so many wonderful volunteers. We invite you to volunteer with your family and friends and you will make a difference in the lives of so many children and families in our community. Please read below for volunteer information.
We want to thank our generous sponsors for making this event possible and for showing their commitment to strengthening our community.
