The YMCA of El Paso strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, family time, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.


Lifeguard Training

Candidates must be 16 years and older. Certification includes: CPR Pro, Oxygen, First Aid and Lifeguard. Class is set up through a combination of e-learning, classroom and practical pool skills. Once a candidate passes the prerequisite swim, the link to register for class and the links to the e-learning will be given. There is a total of 28 hours of classroom time.

    • August 8—prerequisites, August 12, 13, 14, & 15
    • September 6—prerequisites, September 10, 11, 17 & 18
    • October 3—prerequisites, October 8, 9, 15 & 16
    • November 1—prerequisites, November 7, 8, 12 & 13
    • December 5—prerequisites, December 10, 11, 17 & 18
